340 million PCs are using an out of date browser. That’s 24.4% of users on the internet right now. And Microsoft are setting their sights on fixing this problem.
From today at YourBrowserMatters.org, Microsoft will highlight the security problems with people using these older browsers, and allow you to test the security of your current browser. Interestingly, it’s not just Internet Explorer 6 and 7 that Microsoft are targeting (Although, they are 15.2% of the total), they’re also focusing on Firefox 3.6 and older (7.5%) and Chrome 12 and older (1.7%).
We hate older browsers at Storm. They are one of the biggest problems we face as developers trying to innovate and develop against the latest standards and technologies and welcome every attempt to move users towards HTML5 and CSS3 standards compliant versions.
