When we were thinking of writing a ‘New Year’ post about the team, we decided we didn’t want to do the typical “what’s your new year’s resolution?” blog – mostly because the likelihood of people sticking to them is pretty slim. So, we’ve gone down the slightly more positive route of talking about what some of us are looking forward to instead! It looks set to be a great year :)

Personally, I’m looking forward to spending plenty of time away from the office with my young family. We’ve got a few holidays planned which I’m particularly excited about. From a business perspective, January is always a really exciting time for us as a business as we inevitably kick off some new projects. This year we’ve got two brand new start-up businesses (each with huge potential) that we’ll be working very closely with over the next 4-6 months. I’m really looking forward to seeing those projects unfold and come to life.

My wife and I grow a lot of fruit and veg in our garden, so I always look forward to the summer months when we have loads of delicious, fresh produce to eat. This year we’ve added some new raspberry canes that I’m really looking forward to trying. We’re also growing some rare, very hot varieties of chilli (upwards of 500k SHU) – I wonder if anybody at Storm will be brave enough to have a go?

I’m looking forward to watching as many comedy shows as possible in one week at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year. I haven’t been in a couple of years so it will be good to go back. I think my record so far is 34 comedy shows!

It’s really hard to pick – there is a lot to choose from this year! I am getting married in June, so I’m obviously looking forward to that the most! Plus hopefully a few more adventures and travels this year too – that is what honeymoons are for I suppose :)

As a WordPress developer, the biggest thing happening for me this year is Gutenberg – a major rewrite of the editing experience for WordPress that’s coming in the next few months. It’ll likely have big implications of the way users edit their sites, so we’ll be on top of making sure everything we do is compatible!
Personally, having just built a PC before Christmas, I’m on a mission to get a solo chicken dinner win in Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. I’ve had the duo and squad chicken, but it’s time to go it alone, and not just hide in the corner when it gets to the top 10!

This year I am looking forward to surfing in the summer, visiting friends in Barcelona, sharing lots more tasty meals with my housemates, and picking up a blockchain related project in my spare time!

I’m really looking forward to travelling more this year, and it’s gonna be a big one for me – like actually big. I’m going to Japan and I’m a giant! I’ve always wanted to go, and I’m finally making it happen. Being a bit of nerd, there are plenty of films to get excited about too, including the Russo Brothers directing the new Avengers movie. I would say I’m looking forward to season 8 of GoT….but you know…. :(

Anyone who knows me will tell you I’m slightly addicted to travelling. I managed to make it to 9 countries last year so hopefully I’ll be able to beat that record in 2018! I have an endless list but so far I’m heading off to the Riviera Maya in Mexico to explore the Mayan ruins and cenotes (and mostly enjoying the sunshine), and then off to Dubai for desert safaris, rooftop cocktails and exploring the Dubai Miracle Garden. And that’s all just by April! I finally intend to start my travel blog too, which I’ve been saying I’ll do for about 2 years… I’m also really looking forward to highlighting some of the fantastic work that Storm creates, as well as promoting their partner company, iAM Compliant!

I’m really looking forward to the Storm Team Holiday again! Finally a new season of Westworld. Going away to LA in April and potentially Iceland in the summer to take some photos. But most of all the 2018 Formula 1 world championship!
If you’ve had a great new idea, why not make 2018 the year it becomes a reality? Come in for a chat or drop us a line via hello@stormconsultancy.com. We’d love to meet you.
