THE BRIEF

We began by working closely with the Gather team to properly understand the idea behind the platform – who it was for, what it needs to do and what a great experience should feel like.

Through open, close-knit collaboration, we helped refine the original concept and shape a clear MVP positioned for growth. This early work set the foundation for everything that followed, informing how Gather works, looks, feels and communicates.

The brand was built around the joy of celebration, with a modern luxury edge – elevated but never intimidating. Every decision was guided by the same goal: to create a beautiful, effortless experience for couples, while making guests feel confident, considered and included.

THE BUILD

Gather was built as a thoughtfully engineered Ruby on Rails web app, with the user experience guiding every technical decision. Mobile-first by default, the platform makes it easy for couples to manage plans on the go, while remaining just as effortless when used from the sofa at home.

A component-based design system ensures consistency across the platform, giving the flexibility needed for future growth. Integrations with Stripe, WhatsApp and Klaviyo were built in from the start, supporting payments, communication and marketing in a way that feels natural and unobtrusive to the user.

To support the launch, we also designed and built a dedicated marketing site that reflects the product’s tone and introduces Gather to the world.

Unique challenges

User experience guided the design from the outset. Through iterative wireframes and interactive prototypes, we tested and refined ideas early, ensuring the platform always put people first.

With the brand and technical foundations in place, we developed a UI that balances clarity with personality. Every detail was considered to maximise the overall experience, creating a product that feels intuitive, welcoming and easy to use.

A series of joyful, characterful animations help bring Gather to life, welcoming users, guiding them through key moments, and celebrating milestones along the way. We also created fresh video content that highlights the intuitive guest journey. The marketing site completed the picture, distilling the core brand and functionality into an engaging experience.
