We asked our team: What advice would you give to women in tech?

“Don’t let the fear of failure or the awkwardness of asking questions hold you back. Cultivate a mindset where every stumble is a lesson and every question is a chance to unlock new understanding. Surround yourself with people you can draw knowledge from, and leverage the diverse skillsets within your team.”
“Challenge norms, give honest and constructive feedback to help others grow, and be mindful of the language you use to confidently position yourself and your ideas. Be bold, be unapologetic—and remember, it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission.”
“Networking is key. Build a community of like-minded people inside and outside of your workplace and ensure you utilise it. Don’t be afraid to ask for input and help where you need it. A problem shared is a problem halved.”
“Never be afraid to ask questions.” Even if a question seems basic, asking shows curiosity, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to growth. “Embrace the ‘wise fool’ mentality—prioritising understanding over the fear of judgement will only make you stronger.”
“It’s never too late to start a career in the tech industry. Whatever your background, there are many routes into the field—you don’t need a computer science degree to succeed as a developer. No matter which path you take, you’ll find plenty of support from the community. Don’t be afraid to reach out, attend meetups, or ask for advice.”
