Bath Digital Festival 2017

By Holly Breckon

It was a busy week in Bath from 17 – 22 October, with over 80 events happening across the city for the Bath Digital Festival.

5 years of the Bath Digital Festival

Its fifth year was a resounding success and bigger than ever before! Starting off the week with a fantastic launch party at The Holburne Museum, it was the turn of the talented team at Deep Blue Sky to organise the festival this year – and what a great job they did!

With everything from coding for kids, digital marketing tips, a Tesla showcase, advice from Apple, to the latest updates for established techies, there really was something for everyone.

Executive Foundation Dinner

We particularly enjoyed the Executive Foundation Dinner hosted at Bailbrook House on Wednesday. Sponsored by Storm, ten lucky festival goers were invited to join this exclusive event to network with like-minded business people and listen to guest speaker, Jørn Lyseggen, CEO of Meltwater and author of ‘Outside Insight: Navigating a World Drowning in Data’.

Outside Insight by Jørn Lyseggen

Jørn explained how the Internet has changed the way we make decisions, yet the way executives make decisions hasn’t changed at all! Instead of focussing on internal data, it’s important to consider the ‘online breadcrumbs’ being left behind by our competitors. External data such as job adverts, filing a new patent, launching a new product, and social media posts can provide valuable insight and help companies make better decisions.

Being a fantastic speaker, Jørn certainly gave everyone something to think about and discuss! Not to mention, the take home of his brilliant book for a more detailed look at his thought process.

Bath Digital Festival 2018

We hope everyone enjoyed this year’s festival as much as we did.

Thank you to the team at Deep Blue Sky and to all the incredible speakers who took part.  We’re already looking forward to next year!

If you’re interested in taking part in BDF 2018, why not register your interest now? It’s never too early in our opinion!
