Things Storm bookmarked this week / 14-09-11

It’s only been half a week since my last post – we’re shuffling things around and doing this post on a Wednesday, with OTHER THINGS planned for Friday on the Storm blog..

Having said that, there’s still a good few interesting things building up in our various feeds.

First off, the really rather beautiful Ruby Koans “..walking you along the path to enlightenment in order to learn Ruby” – which our very own Zen master Paul Leader tweeted about a few days ago. Personally, I think I need more than Koans (48 hour days for example..) to help me learn anything codey, but nonetheless anything that has file names like path_to_enlightenment.rb gets a thumbs-up in my book…

Somewhere in a very long list of things I’m slightly obsessed with is the Internet Of Things – and somewhere else in that list is Infographics – so an Internet Of Things Infographic is bound to be a winner. According to this one, designed by Intel, there will be 31 billion devices and 4 billion people connected to the internet by 2020. Craziness.

While we’re on visual stuff, check out this rather nice “How to focus” mind map. The irony that you probably found this blog post via a distracting Twitter moment isn’t lost on us – but nonetheless it’s a good reminder of how much STUFF there is demanding our attention, and some possible ways of channeling this attention.

Slightly more geeky, but worth a mention because it seems to grow in awesomeness each week – ManageWP announced that they now support backups to S3, FTP and Dropbox. If you look after one or more WordPress blogs and you don’t know ManageWP you really should check it out – basically a kind of cross-install dashboard for managing multiple WordPress installations. It’s a massive timesaver, and currently free while in beta!

Finally, this great post from Simply Zesty: 50 Social Media Case Studies Worth Bookmarking was just that – worth bookmarking… – some really nice examples in there if you’re seeking inspiration.

That’s it for now. Bye!
