Winner of Best Digital Design at The SPARKies
What a fortnight! Just one week after winning Best Agency at the Creative Bath Awards, we pick up a SPARKie too. We’re absolutely thrilled to have won the award for Best Digital Design at The SPARKies Awards last night, for our work on Mr B’s Reading Emporium’s web design.
Best of the West
Hosted by the team from TechSPARK on Thursday 21 June, the growing horde of tech talent from across the West Country congregated at Motion in Bristol to celebrate all things digital. With awards for everything from new start ups and mentors, to data and best place to workplace, the brilliance of the local tech scene was on show for all to see.
It’s no wonder Bristol and Bath have been named as the top areas in the UK for tech productivity and to work! (Tech Nation 2017)
Shortlisted for four awards
Storm had been shortlisted for three awards whilst our Managing Director, David Kelly, was up for Lifetime Achievement Award. The competition was fierce in all categories, but we were very proud to achieve the Best Digital Design prize – an award highly valued by a website and technology agency, for sure!
We were beaten by the incredible company, Ultrahaptics, for Best Place to Work, and fantastic new business, Immersive Labs, won the ‘Totally Killing It’ award. Lifetime Achievement went to a very deserving John Courtney.
Winner of Best Digital Design
We entered the Best Digital Design category with Mr B’s new website due to its compelling story. Having created an eclectic and approachable style to reflect the magic of Mr B’s, they can now compete with the book-selling giants online with their new unique online store.
Since the website’s launch, Mr B’s has seen a colossal growth in online sales. Launching just before the Christmas period, books, Book Spas and Reading Gifts have beenflying off the virtual shelves. In the past four months alone, online sales have goneup 60.8% year on year, page views per day grewexponentially and their website has even been mentioned in thefantastic blog post “Unexpected Lessons in Ecommerce Marketing From 8 Brilliant Bookshops” by Ometria!
As you can imagine, we weren’t the only ones celebrating the win. Here’s what Mr B’s had to say when they found out:

We’d like to thank Nic and all the team at Mr B’s for trusting us to create their vision. It was one of our favourite projects and we’re so pleased it got the recognition it deserved.
